Leroy Baca appointed to the Corrections Standards Authority

Leroy Baca, 66, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the Corrections Standards Authority. He has served the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department since 1965 and has served as sheriff of Los Angeles County since 1998. Prior to that, Baca served as the division chief from 1992 to 1998, commander from 1986 to 1992 and lieutenant from 1971 to 1981. From 1969 to 1971, he served as sergeant and, from 1965 to 1969, Baca served as deputy sheriff. He is the director of Homeland Security-Mutual Aid for California Region I, which serves 13 million people. Baca earned a Doctorate of Public Administration degree and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science degree in Police Administration from the California State University, Los Angeles. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Baca is a Republican.
