Sept. 9, 2009: Duvall resigned from the Assembly after revelations of an apparant affair with one or more lobbyists. Duvall denied any affairs, regretting only inappropriate story-telling".

Earlier in the day Duvall was removed from the Assembly Utilities and Commerce Committee and the Assembly Rules Committee and the issue was referred to the Assembly Legislative Ethics Committee for review.

Sept. 8, 2009: KCAL/KCBS television broke a story about a sexual affair between Assemblymember Duvall and a lobbyist. The affair was revealed in recorded video from a July 8, 2009, hearing of the Assembly Appropriations Committee. In the video Duvall is seen and heard whispering to fellow committee member Jeff Miller about an affair. The OCWeekly newspaper reported that the mistress is lobbyist Heidi DeJong Barsuglia.

Duvall's Assembly website biography and his Wikipedia note "Chapman University awarded Duvall the Ethics in America Award in 2000 for his "demonstration of the highest standards of ethical integrity" while a member of the Chamber team."

Duvall lives in Yorba Linda with his wife Susan. He has two grown children.
