Jan., 2010: Cedillo decided to change Assembly races from AD 46 to AD 45. after Assm. John Perez in AD 46 was announced as the Assembly's next Speaker. Cedillo will now challenge Democratic incumbent Kevin DeLeon in AD 45.:

May 19, 2009: Cedillo was defeated by Judy Chu in the Democratic Primary election for the 32nd Congressional District race to replace Hilda Solis.

Jan. 8, 2009: Cedillo announced his plans to run for the 32nd Congressional District in a special election to replace Hilda Solis. Rep. Solis was appointed as Secretary of Labor by president-elect Barack Obama and will vacate her seat pending U.S. Senate confirmation.
