A third generation resident of Stockton and local businessman, Assemblyman Aghazarian has deep roots in the San Joaquin Valley.
The family name has proudly graced Aghazarian's of Stockton, a local landmark, for 30 years. Assemblyman Aghazarian is an integral part of the family's apparel, alteration and reweaving business, contributing to its success and bringing his extensive business knowledge to public service. Growing up around the family business, Assemblyman Aghazarian learned the values and rewards of hard work, and as a successful businessman and attorney, he understands what it takes to build a business and balance a budget. As an attorney and businessman, Assemblyman Aghazarian's commitment to local issues, particularly those affecting the children of the district, is borne out by his interest in education reform and improving the local quality of life. Prior to being elected to the Assembly, he served as Trustee on the Lincoln Unified School District Board, and was a member of the Executive Committee of the San Joaquin County School Board Association. Assemblyman Aghazarian was also a Commissioner with the City of Stockton's Department of Parks and Recreation. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, in 1993. Active in the Stockton Rotary and the San Joaquin A+ (a public-private partnership to improve literacy), Assemblyman Aghazarian is also a member of the San Joaquin County Farm Bureau. Assemblyman Aghazarian and Esther Aghazarian live in Stockton where they are raising their newly born twin boys.
