March 12, 2010: Newsom announced he would run for Lt. Governor of CA.

October 30, 2009: Newsom dropped out of the 2010 race for governor. He wrote in a press release, "With a young family and responsibilities at city hall, I have found it impossible to commit the time required to complete this effort the way it needs to -- and should be -- done."
