 Michael Villines biography:
Assemblymember Mike Villines represents the 29th district in the State Assembly. The district includes the communities of Fresno, Clovis, Madera, and Orange Cove.
As an owner and Vice President of Public Relations at Panagraph, a Fresno based, international marketing and public relations firm with over fifty employees, he was instrumental in the company's significant growth. His responsibilities included overall management of the day-to-day public relations activities and staff as well as shared responsibilities for development of new business for the entire firm.
Prior to joining Panagraph, Mike served in several capacities while working in the State Capitol. As an appointee for Governor Pete Wilson, he served as an advance representative, where he coordinated media appearances for the Governor. Later he worked to implement Governor Wilson's legislative and policy agenda for reforming burdensome environmental issues as an appointee of the Department of Fish and Game. He also served in a senior staff position on Governor Wilson's re-election campaign.
Mike served as Chief of Staff for Assemblyman Chuck Poochigian (29th Assembly District) in the Legislature. Mike was responsible for overall management of the Assemblyman's legislative agenda with a heavy emphasis on business, agriculture, education and water issues. After transitioning into the Senate briefly, Mike returned home to Fresno with his family to pursue a private sector career with Panagraph.
Mike is a graduate of California State University, Fresno, and holds a BA degree in Political Science. Currently he volunteers for: the Senator Kenneth L. Maddy Institute for Leadership and Ethics at CSU Fresno, the Alumni Board for the School of Social Sciences at CSU Fresno and Break the Barriers - where he donates his time and expertise in public relations for the program that integrates disabled and able-bodied individuals in sports and performing arts activities. He is active at People's Church of Fresno.
Mike and his wife Christina reside in Clovis with their three children: Conor, Allison and Joshua.
