June 2007: Earned bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College.

December 2005: Became Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's chief of staff.

2003: Took position on the California Public Utilities Commission.

1998: Oversaw Democrats' statewide campaign, which gave Gray Davis a landslide victory in race for governor.

1995-98: Worked as Sen. Dianne Feinstein's communications director.

1992: Managed Get-Out-The-Vote campaign in California for Clinton/Gore.

1992: Helped elect Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer to the U.S. Senate.

1991-94: Served as executive director of California Democratic Party.
