Feb 17, 2010: Bass announced she would run in the 33rd Congressional District Democratic primary race in June 2010. Diane Watson, who has held the seat since 2001, had decided to retire.

1990-present: Bass founded and serves as executive director of the Community Coalition which works to improve the quality of lige in South Los Angeles.

Bass graduated from Cal State Dominguez Hills and received a post-graduate degree as a physician's assistant from the University of Southern California. She has been a clinical instructor at the USC School of Medicine since 1986 and joined the UCLA School of Public Policy as a Senior Policy Fellow in 1998.
