Figueras is a longtime aide to Richard Alarcon, a Los Angeles city councilmember and a former state assemblymember.

August 17, 2012: Figueras was charged by Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Steve Cooley with one count of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. If convicted, Figueras faces up to a year in county jail. Arraignment is set for Sept. 17, 2012, and bail is set at $25,000. Figueras was driving a 2003 Toyota Prius in North Hollywood on March 14, 2012, when he hit Gary Woodford, 55, a homeless man who had stepped into the street at Vineland Avenue and Erwin Street.
