Feb. 2, 2012: The board of the California High-Speed Rail Authority chose fellow board member Richard to serve as chairman.

2010-present: Richard is principal of Dan Richard Advisors.

2007-2009: Richard was managing partner and co-founder of Heritage Oak Capital Partners, an infrastructure finance firm.

1997-2006: Richard was senior vice president of public policy and governmental relations at Pacific Gas and Electric Company.

1992-2004: Richard was an elected member of the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District, where he served twice as president of the Board. Richard led efforts to secure $4 billion in capital for system rehabilitation projects, the transit system’s expansion to the San Francisco Airport and seismic retrofit programs.

1986-1996: Richard was a principal at Morse, Richard, Weisenmiller & Associates, a firm serving the independent power industry and project finance lending community.

1983-1986: Richard was vice president of Independent Power Corporation.

1982-1983: Richard served as Governor Jerry Brown's deputy legal affairs secretary.

1978-1979: Richard was deputy assistant for science and technology in Governor Jerry Brown's administration.

1978-1982: Richard was advisor to the chairman of the California Energy Commission.

1972-1978: Richard was assistant to the deputy associate administrator at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Richard received his Juris Doctor degree from McGeorge School of Law.
