Feb. 7, 2011: Hahn announced that she would run for Congressional District 36, a seat that Congresswoman Jane Harman announced, earlier that day, she would be vacating.

June 2001: Hahn won election to the 15th District of the Los Angeles City Council. In March 2009, Hahn won re-election to her third and final term.

Hahn is the daughter of the late Los Angeles County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn and the sister of former Los Angeles Mayor, James Hahn.
