John’s parents knew the Dream well, coming to the South Bay from New York City in the mid 60’s. They worked in the growing aerospace industry & instilled in John a strong commitment to both his country & his community. In 1987, John enlisted in the United States Navy, graduated from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland in 1992 with a BS degree in Engineering. During his 11-year naval officer career, John participated in numerous warfare missions, including Drug Interdiction Operations in the Caribbean, and served as Officer-in-Charge of Military Police at Naval Air Facility El Centro, located near the California-Mexico Border. John went on to earn an MBA from Regis University, a Professional Certification in Government Contracts Management from UCLA, and a Dale Carnegie Certification in Effective Communications & Human Relations. John now volunteers as a Dale Carnegie Coach. In 2006, John was elected a Board Member to the Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council and as Chairman of the 54th Assembly District Republican Central Committee, which covers the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Catalina Island, San Pedro & over 70% of Long Beach. Between 2006 & 2009, John served as South Bay Chairman for Victory ’06, Executive Board Member for the Republican Party of Los Angeles County, and was appointed to the Executive Committee for the California Republican Party, in addition to various committees. In the early months of 2009, John led a coalition of Democratic & Republican neighborhood council activists throughout the City of Los Angeles to defeat Measure B, Mayor Villaraigosa’s boondoggle solar energy plan, despite the Mayor spending over $2M the weekend prior to Election Day to pass it. John then campaigned extensively with the South Bay Tea Party throughout the 28th Senate District to defeat Propositions 1A through 1E in the May 19th Special Election. Nearly 70% of South Bay voters rejected Proposition 1A, a message Senator Oropeza has refused to acknowledge, calling the election results “rhetoric†on a now-popular video clip from June 30th. John & his wife Andrea have been married since 2002. They have two daughters, AnneMarie (5 yrs) & Violet (1 yr), and reside in San Pedro, CA. John was born, raised, schooled, and now lives & works in the South Bay of Southern California. He has made the decision that someone has to fight for the South Bay & against job-killing state legislators like Senator Oropeza before the aerospace & entertainment industries are gone for good! John’s not running because he wants to run; John’s running because he HAS TO RUN!
